Removal the exhaust manifold



1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the engine protective pan.

4. Remove the EGR components.

5. Remove the turbocharger (see the relevant section above in this chapter).

6. Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the exhaust manifold.

6. Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the exhaust manifold.


7. Mark the position of the exhaust manifold gasket.

8. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.

Installing the exhaust manifold



Note: Replace the exhaust manifold gasket with a new one after each removal.


1. Using fine-grained sandpaper, clean the contact surfaces of the exhaust manifold (if reused) and the cylinder block.

Note: If the threaded studs have been loosened when removing the exhaust manifold, apply high-strength thread locking compound to the threads and tighten to 9 N·m.


2. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket in the position marked before removal.

3. Install the exhaust manifold.

4. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown in the figure to a torque of 26 N·m.

5. Install the turbocharger.

6. Install the EGR system components.

7. Rubber mounting bracket for muffler (Mot. 1857).

7. Install the engine protective pan.

8. Connect the negative battery terminal.
