Removal
Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove:
- air filter housing,
- engine oil pan protection,
- catalytic converter,
- exhaust gas recirculation unit,
- turbocharger.
Remove:
- exhaust manifold mounting stud nuts.
- exhaust manifold.
Mark the position of the exhaust manifold gasket.
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
Installation
Parts that must be replaced: exhaust manifold gasket.
Using a grey matting pad, clean the mating surface:
- cylinder head,
- exhaust manifold in case of its reuse.
Clean and degrease with surface cleaner:
- cylinder head,
- exhaust manifold in case of its reuse.
Note: If any studs are dislodged during this operation, apply a high strength thread locking compound to the threads.
Tighten the stud on the exhaust manifold to the specified torque (9 Nm).
Install:
- a new exhaust manifold gasket, observing the position marked during removal,
- exhaust manifold.
Tighten the exhaust manifold mounting nuts in the specified order to the specified torque (26 Nm).
Install:
- turbocharger,
- exhaust gas recirculation unit,
- catalytic converter,
- engine oil pan protection,
- air filter housing.
Connect the battery.
