1. Place the vehicle on jack stands.
2. Check the tightness of the clamps and flanges of the exhaust system.
3. Check the condition of the exhaust system by shining a flashlight on it. Make sure there are no holes, rusted parts, or rubbing spots.
4. Replace exhaust pipes that have significant dents.
5. Check the rubber cushions of the exhaust pipe suspension for porosity by stretching and twisting them. Replace the cushions if necessary.
6. Lower the car onto its wheels.
