Description of the design of the lubrication system (Renault Logan 1)

The engine lubrication system is combined: the most loaded parts are lubricated under pressure, the rest - by splashing. The pressure in the lubrication system is created by a gear oil pump installed in the engine oil sump in the front part of the cylinder block and driven by a chain drive from the crankshaft.

The pump sucks oil from the engine oil sump through an oil receiver with a mesh filter and then through a full-flow oil filter with a filter element made of porous paper feeds it into the main oil line located in the cylinder block body on the left side. From the main line, oil supply channels to the crankshaft main bearings extend. Oil is supplied to the connecting rod bearings through channels made in the crankshaft body. From the main oil line, an oil supply channel to the camshaft extends.

To lubricate the camshaft bearings, oil from the vertical channel through the radial hole in the journal of the third bearing enters through a hollow bolt into the axial hole of the rocker arm axis, through which it is distributed between the remaining camshaft bearings and the valve drive rocker arms.

The camshaft cams are lubricated by oil sprayed through holes in the rocker arms. Excess oil drains from the cylinder head into the oil pan through vertical drainage channels.
