1. Repair and check of the generator is best left to specialists, since this requires special devices and test benches. Incorrect connection of measuring or test devices can lead to immediate burning of the rectifier diodes.
2. Generator bearing lubrication is designed for a long time and does not require regular replacement. After a long period of operation, check the brushes and replace if necessary. Pay attention to the following instructions:
3. If the battery charge control lamp does not light up when the ignition is turned on, check whether the lamp housing is damaged. To check, you can briefly install the 6.3 mm connecting piece in the ground connection. The lamp should light up. If not, then there may be the following reasons: the drive belt is torn, the cable in the charge circuit is damaged, the alternator or voltage regulator is damaged.
4. If the control lamp functions, and the rechargeable battery constantly loses its charge, check the voltage of the regulator with a voltmeter.
5. Install a voltmeter on the battery terminals and determine the voltage.
6. Start the engine and increase the speed until the voltmeter reading stabilizes. The reading should be 13.5 - 14.8 V.
7. Turn off the electrical consumers as far as possible and read the voltmeter again. The reading must be within the specified value. If the readings are different, remove the alternator and contact a car repair shop. The following damages are possible: a damaged diode, a break in the rotor winding, worn sliding graphite contacts or dirty slip rings.
