The vehicles described may be equipped with starters manufactured by Paris-Rhone, Valeo or Mitsubishi. Some starters are equipped with a reduction gear to increase the starting torque.
The starter can be replaced. For economic reasons, it is not recommended to repair it. The sliding electro-graphite contacts cannot be replaced separately, since they are mounted in the brush holder and connected to the winding of the pole coils.
When the brushes wear out, the starter must be replaced. This also applies to the carbon brushes. They are under high voltage, which can cause injury when removed.
