The maintenance procedures in this manual are designed with the assumption that the vehicle owner will perform the work himself. The intervals indicated are recommended by the manufacturer for vehicles used daily.
If the vehicle is operated in dusty areas, is used for towing a trailer, or is frequently driven at low speeds, more frequent maintenance is recommended.
Every 10,000 km or 6 months
- Change engine oil and filter (Chapter 3)
- Check the transmission fluid level (Chapter 4)
- Check all components, tubes and hoses for fluid leaks (Chapter 5)
- Check the condition and tension of the auxiliary drive belts (Chapter 6)
- Check idle speed and mixture - where possible (Chapter 7)
- Check the condition of the spark plugs (Chapter 8)
- Check the condition and adjustment of the contact plates of the breaker - C-series motor (Chapter 9)
- Check the ignition timing - where possible (Chapter 10)
- Check the operation of the clutch - where present (Chapter 11)
- Check the condition and reliability of the exhaust system (Chapter 12)
- Check the condition of the front brake pads and discs (Chapter 13)
- Check the condition of the rear brake pads and discs (Chapter 14)
- Check the body and underbody for damage and corrosion (Chapter 15)
- Check the adjustment of the light beam direction (Chapter 16)
- Check the condition and reliability of fastening of steering and suspension components (Chapter 17)
- Check the condition of the drive shaft protective boots (Chapter 18)
- Check the tightness of the wheel bolts (Chapter 19)
- Check the operation of the heating and air conditioning systems (Chapter 20)
Every 20,000 km
In addition to all the above points, do the following:
- Replace the air filter element (Chapter 21)
- Replace spark plugs (Chapter 8)
- Check the high tension wires, distributor cap and rotor (Chapter 23)
- Perform a test drive (Chapter 24)
Every 58,000 km
In addition to all the above points, do the following:
- Check the air filter temperature control system - where present (Chapter 25)
- Replace the fuel filter (Chapter 26)
- Change transmission fluid and filter (Chapter 27)
- Check the condition of the rear brake pads and drums (Chapter 28)
- Check the handbrake adjustment (Chapter 29)
- Replace brake fluid (Chapter 30)
- Check the front wheel alignment ((Section 10)
- Check the operation and condition of the seat belts (Chapter 32)
- Lubricate the hinges and locks (Chapter 33)
- Check the manual transmission oil level (Chapter 34)
Every 115,000 km
- Replace the timing belt (except for the C-series engine) (the relevant Part of Section 2)
Warning: If this step is neglected, the timing belt may break while the engine is running, causing significant damage to the engine. As a precaution, it is recommended to replace the timing belt after 58,000 km.
Every 2 years, regardless of mileage
- Replace the coolant (Chapter 36)
