Instruments and electrical equipment
1. Check the functioning of all devices and electrical equipment.
2. Make sure all instruments are giving correct readings. Turn on all electrical equipment one by one and make sure it functions normally.
Steering gear and suspension
3. Check for faults in the steering and suspension.

4. Drive the vehicle and check that there are no unusual vibrations or noises.
5. Check that the steering is smooth and the steering wheel turns without excessive force or play.
Chassis
6. Check the operation of the engine, clutch, transmission and drive shafts.
7. Pay attention to any unusual noises from the engine, clutch and gearbox/transmission.
8. Make sure the engine idles smoothly and that there is no vibration during acceleration.
9. Check that the clutch operates smoothly, the drive is transmitted evenly, and the pedal free play does not exceed that specified in the Specifications. Pay attention to any noises made when you press the clutch pedal.
10. On models with a manual transmission, make sure that all gears engage easily and without noise.
11. On models with automatic transmission, ensure that gear shifting occurs smoothly, without increasing engine speed between shifts. Make sure that any gear shift mode can be selected with the engine off. If you experience any problems, please contact your Renault dealer.
12. Drive the car slowly in a circle, turning the steering wheel all the way to the stop. Listen for a metallic clicking sound coming from the front of the vehicle, which indicates wear in the drive shaft joint (see Section 8).
Brake system
13. Make sure that the vehicle does not pull to one side when braking and that the wheels do not lock prematurely when braking hard.
14. Make sure that no vibration is felt through the steering when braking.
15. Make sure the handbrake works properly and holds the vehicle on the slope.
16. Check the operation of the brake booster as follows. Turn off the engine and press the brake pedal four or five times to remove the vacuum. Press and hold the brake pedal, then start the engine. After starting, the brake pedal should become weaker as a vacuum is created in the system. Let the engine run for at least two minutes and then turn it off. If you now press the brake pedal, you should hear a hissing sound from the servo motor. After pressing four or five times, there should be no hissing sound, and the pedal should become much more elastic.
