Battery — periodic inspection (Renault Clio 1)

Make sure the battery tray is in good condition. Corrosion on the tray, clamp and battery can be removed with a solution of baking soda and water. Rinse all cleaned areas thoroughly with water. All metal parts damaged by corrosion must be treated with zinc primer and then painted.

Periodically (approximately every three months), check the battery charge level as described in Section 5A.



1. The battery is located on the left side of the engine compartment. Inspect the battery periodically for damage (cracks in the body or lid).



2. Check the tightness of the battery clamps. Also check each cable for cracks and frayed areas.



3. Clean the battery terminals with a wire brush. Automotive supply stores sell tools for cleaning terminals...





4. ...and battery clamps.
