3.1 Tools and materials required to change engine oil and filter.
2. Remove the oil filler plug from the valve cover, then place a suitable container under the oil pan. Clean the drain plug and the area around it, then loosen the plug half a turn (use a special 8 mm wrench) (see illustrations). If possible, leave the plug screwed into the pan a couple of turns. Afterwards, unscrew it and quickly move it to the side so that the oil flow from the pan goes into the container and not past it.

3.2c Using a special key, unscrew the drain plug from the pan.
3. Drain the old oil completely.
4. Wipe the drain plug with a clean rag and replace the sealing washer. Clean the area around the drain pan hole, then screw in and tighten the plug to the torque specified in the Specifications.
5. Move the container under the oil filter on the front wall of the cylinder block.
6. On the F7P engine (with 16 valves) there is very little space between the engine subframe and the oil pan, making access to the oil filter very difficult. Also note that the filter is installed on the cooler.
7. Using a special tool, loosen the oil filter, (on an F7P engine with 16 valves, try doing it manually). Wrap the filter in a rag and unscrew it completely, immediately turning it over with the open side up so that the oil flows out.
8. Wipe the areas around the filter seal on the engine with a clean rag. If the rubber O-ring from the old filter remains on the engine, carefully remove it.
9. Lightly lubricate the O-ring on the new filter, then screw it into place (see illustration). Tighten the filter by hand - do not use any tools. Wipe the outer surface of the filter.
3.9 Before installing the new oil filter, lubricate the O-ring.
10. Remove all tools from under the vehicle, then lower it to the ground.
11. Fill the engine with the quantity and grade of oil specified in the Specifications. Pour the oil slowly, otherwise it will leak out the top of the valve cover. Bring the oil level up to the maximum mark on the dipstick, then install and tighten the oil filler plug.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for leaks around the oil filter seal and the drain plug in the oil pan. Please note that when you first start the engine, there may be a delay before the oil pressure warning light goes out until the new filter fills with oil.
13. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the pan. Recheck the oil level and add more if necessary.
