The power module is integrated into the injection system ECU. The ignition system uses the same sensors as the injection system.

Ignition coils (four, according to the number of cylinders) secured directly to the spark plugs using a bolt on the cylinder head cover (fig. 2.276).

The injection system ECU supplies power to the ignition coils sequentially in pairs:
  • via contact C M4 for ignition coils of cylinders 1 and 4;
  • via contact C M3 for ignition coils of cylinders 2 and 3.

Removal

Remove the top engine covers.

Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, starting with the negative terminal.

Disconnect the wire connectors from the ignition coils and unscrew the bolts that secure them (fig. 2.277).

Attention! Damaged socket parts of connectors must be replaced.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Apply GRAISSE FLUOREE to all four ignition coils (diameter 2 mm) along the inner circumference of the high-voltage wire cap.

Replace ignition coil seals if necessary.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • ignition coil mounting screws (15 Nm);
  • battery cover mounting bolts (4 Nm).
