Note. The two-function switch for glow and recirculation of exhaust gases is installed only on the F8Q 620 engine.
Adjustment
1. Engine must be off. Fully press the throttle lever and insert a 5 mm feeler gauge between the lever and the maximum engine speed locking screw on the fuel pump (refer to accompanying illustration).
2a. Glow microswitch on Lucas injection pump:
B - Accelerator lever; Y - Probe; 1 - Microswitch; 2 - connector; 3 - Deceleration adjustment screw; 4 - Bolt; 5 - Cam
2b. Adjust the position of the microswitch by unscrewing the two fixing screws and pushing it to the left. The microswitch should turn off the power to the solenoid valve when the throttle lever is 5mm from the screw.
Examination
1. There is a simple method to check the operation of the microswitch. Connect the wiring connector first.
2. With the engine idling, disconnect and reconnect the EGR solenoid valve vacuum tube three or four times. A noise should be heard indicating that the valve is correctly placed.
3. The engine is still idling. Disconnect the vacuum tube again and place a small piece of paper on the connector (refer to accompanying illustration). The paper must be held by the vacuum. Then push the throttle. The paper should fall when the throttle stick is 5mm from the engine's maximum speed screw, indicating that the vacuum is being cut off.
4. After completing these checks, repair the electrical and vacuum connections, then test drive at high speed (in 3rd or 4th gear), to clear the tubes.
Removing
1. Disconnect the wiring connector, unscrew the two mounting screws and remove the microswitch from the bracket on the fuel pump.
Installation
1. Install in reverse order. Adjust the microswitch as described above and tighten the fastening screws.
