Note: The dual function glow plug and EGR switch is only fitted to the F8Q 620 engine.
Adjustment

1. The engine must be off. Press the throttle lever all the way down and insert a 5 mm thick feeler gauge between the lever and the maximum engine speed stop screw on the fuel pump (refer to the accompanying illustration).

2a. Glow switch on Lucas fuel injection pump:
B - Accelerator lever; Y - Probe; 1 - Microswitch; 2 - Connector; 3 - Slowdown adjustment screw; 4 - Bolt; 5 - Cam

2b. Adjust the position of the microswitch by loosening the two mounting screws and pushing it to the left. The microswitch should cut off power to the solenoid valve when the throttle lever is 5 mm from the screw.
Examination
1. There is a simple method to check the operation of the micro switch. First, connect the wiring connector.
2. With the engine idling, disconnect and reconnect the EGR solenoid valve vacuum line three to four times. A noise should be heard, indicating that the valve is positioned correctly.

3. The engine still idles. Disconnect the vacuum line again and place a small piece of paper on the connecting pipe (refer to the accompanying illustration). The paper should be held by the vacuum. Then press the throttle. The paper should drop when the throttle is 5mm from the maximum engine speed screw, indicating that the vacuum is being cut off.
4. After completing these checks, reconnect the electrical and vacuum connections, then test drive the vehicle at high speed (in 3rd or 4th gear), to clean the pipes.
Removal
1. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the two mounting screws and remove the microswitch from the bracket on the fuel pump.
Installation
1. Install in reverse order. Adjust the microswitch as described above and tighten the mounting screws.
