Warning! The following procedure simply reduces the pressure in the fuel system. Be aware that fuel is still in the system components, so take precautions before disconnecting them.
Note. The fuel system consists of a fuel priming pump installed in the tank, a fuel filter, an injector and a pressure regulator in the throttle body. These components are connected using metal pipes and flexible hoses. They all contain fuel that is under pressure when the engine is running and/or the ignition is on. The pressure in the system remains for some time even after the ignition is turned off and must be relieved before any component is disconnected.
Method 1
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery (contact the head Engine electrical equipment for Scenic models).
Attention! If the car radio in your car is coded, make sure you know the code before disconnecting the battery.
2. Place a suitable container under the coupler to be disconnected and have a rag ready.
3. Slowly loosen the union or union nut to avoid sudden release of pressure. After the pressure is released, disconnect the fuel line. Cap the ends of the pipes to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system.
Method 2
1. Remove the fuel priming pump relay located in the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment.
2. Start the engine and let it idle until it stalls due to lack of fuel. After that, turn on the starter several times.
3. Turn off the ignition and install the fuel priming pump relay.
