Removal and installation the camshaft position sensor



Removal the camshaft position sensor



1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

2. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the engine protective pan.

3. Remove the lower engine thrust rod.

4. Remove the right engine mounting support.

5. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor wire from the upper timing cover (1).

5. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor wire from the upper timing cover (1).


6. Disconnect the connector (2) from the camshaft position sensor.

7. Loosen the bolt (3) of the camshaft position sensor

8. Remove the camshaft position sensor.

Installing the camshaft position sensor



Note: Replace the camshaft position sensor seal with a new one after each removal.


1. Lubricate the camshaft position sensor seal.

2. Install the camshaft position sensor with a new seal.

3. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.

4. Connect the camshaft position sensor wiring to the upper timing drive cover.

5. Install the right engine mounting support.

6. Install the lower engine thrust rod.

7. Install the engine protective pan.

8. Using the diagnostic tool, perform the camshaft position sensor initialization procedure.
