Removing the air filter unit
1. Remove the air resonator (see above).
2. Remove the brake master cylinder.
3. Disconnect the vacuum line (4) brake booster from the intake manifold.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the vacuum port on the intake manifold. If damaged, replace the intake manifold with a new one.
4. Loosen the screws (5) air filter cover and remove the cover.
5. Remove the air filter.
6. Unhook the pipes of the engine cooling system from the holders (6).
7. If equipped, unhook the breather tube from the gearbox (7).
8. Remove the cooling pipe mounting bracket (8).
9. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wiring (9).
10. Loosen the bolts (10) air filter unit.
11. Remove the air filter unit.
Installing the air filter unit
Note:
- Replace the throttle body gasket with a new one after each removal.
- Replace all plastic rivets and clips with new ones.
1. Install the air filter unit and tighten the fixing bolts to 9 Nm.
2. Clip the oxygen sensor wiring.
3. Hook the breather pipe onto the gearbox.
4. Pick up the pipes of the engine cooling system.
5. Install the air filter and its cover.
6. Connect the vacuum line to the intake manifold.
7. Install the master brake cylinder.
8. Install the air resonator.
9. Bleed the hydraulic circuit of the brake system.
Air filter replacement
1. Remove the air resonator (see above).
2. Disconnect the vacuum line (4) brake booster oi intake manifold.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the vacuum port on the intake manifold. If damaged, replace the intake manifold with a new one.
3. Loosen the bolts (5) air filter cover and remove the cover.
4. Remove the air filter.
5. Clean the air filter housing.
6. Install a new air filter.
7. Install the air filter cover.
8. Tighten the two bolts securing the air filter cover.
9. Connect the brake booster vacuum line to the intake manifold.
10. Install the air resonator.
