Removal and installation front seat belts

Note: The seat belt must be retracted using a retractor.

Attention:

To prevent the activation of pyrotechnic devices (airbags and pretensioners) when working near them, it is necessary to block the airbag processor using a diagnostic tool.

When this function is activated, all communication lines are disconnected and the airbag warning indicator lights up on the instrument panel when the ignition is on.

Removal the front seat belt

1. Block the airbag processor.

2. Turn off the ignition.

3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

4. Remove the lower seat belt bolt cover and unscrew the lower bolt (1).

4. Remove the lower seat belt bolt cover and unscrew the lower bolt (1).

5. Remove the upper seat belt cover and unscrew the upper bolt (2).

6. Remove the lower trim of the central body pillar.

Note: To prevent noise, increased wear, short circuits, etc., it is necessary to mark the wiring and connector connection positions before removal.

7. Mark the wiring route to the front seat belt inertia reel.

8. Unhook the safety clip of the inertia reel connector.

9. Disconnect the inertia reel connector.

10. Loosen the bolt (3) and remove the inertia reel.

11. Remove the seat belt height adjustment mechanism (if any).

Installing the front seat belt

Caution: Always replace the front seat belt retractor bolt, as well as the upper and lower seat belt mounting bolts, with new ones.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Note: Make sure that the seat belt webbing is not twisted between the retractor and the retractor mechanism, or between the retractor mechanism and the lower front seat belt anchorage.

Tightening torques:

upper seat belt bolt: 21 Nm;
inertia reel bolt: 21 Nm;
lower seat belt bolt: 21 Nm;
seat belt height adjustment mechanism bolts: 21 Nm

Check that the seat belt is installed correctly by pulling out approximately 300 mm of the seat belt webbing twice, then releasing it and allowing it to retract into the retractor mechanism.

Check the front seat belt locking function by pulling out approximately 200 mm of the belt webbing and giving a sharp tug to try to pull the belt further.

Turn on the ignition and make sure that the malfunction indicator on the instrument panel is not lit.
