Attention:
- Work on the airbag and seat belt pretensioner systems should only be carried out by experienced and trained personnel.
- The airbags are equipped with a pyrotechnic gas generator with an igniter and an inflatable chamber, which must under no circumstances be separated from each other.
- The seat belt pretensioners are equipped with a pyrotechnic gas generator and an igniter, which must under no circumstances be separated.
- To avoid triggering, do not place pyrotechnic elements (airbags and seat belt pretensioners) near heat sources or open flames.
- To avoid triggering when working with a pyrotechnic element, or when working in its immediate vicinity (near airbags and seat belt pretensioners) lock the airbag computer with «diagnostic tool». In this case, all ignition circuits are blocked, and the airbag warning light on the instrument panel lights up with a constant light (when enabled "ignition").
- When working under a vehicle (on the body, on the bearing base of the body, etc.) and when removing and installing the seat upholstery, be sure to lock the airbag computer with "diagnostic tool" and disconnect the battery.
Caution: To prevent tuning out or accidental activation of pyrotechnic elements (airbags for pretensioners) check the airbag computer with "diagnostic tool".
Pyrotechnic systems (seat belt pretensioners and airbags) must be checked with "diagnostic tool":
- after a traffic accident
- after the theft or attempted theft of a car,
- before reselling the vehicle.
Operation of security systems
Attention:
To prevent airbags from deploying:
- do not put covers on the front seats,
- do not place any objects in the airbag deployment area.
After a collision is detected, the airbag ECU is fully disabled and the warning light comes on "airbag malfunctions" on the instrument panel. The airbag computer and side impact sensors are subject to a mandatory ban.
Attention:
- To avoid accidents, do not use reusable pyrotechnic elements.
- Be sure to disable the seat belt pretensioners or airbags before scrapping the vehicle or any item.
Service life of pyrotechnic devices
Recommendations for replacing pyrotechnic devices (airbags and seat belt pretensioners) 10 years after the car's registration is now abolished. Thus, pyrotechnic devices (airbags and seat belt pretensioners) do not require any maintenance.
