Caution. The brake drums must be of the same internal diameter and must be bored at the same time. Never exceed the maximum diameter indicated on the drum. New brake drums are coated with a protective layer that must be removed with a suitable solvent.
Removal
- Lower the parking brake lever to its lowest position.
- If necessary, loosen the parking brake cable near the compensator.
- Remove the plug from the brake shoe support shield to disable the automatic brake shoe wear compensation system (Fig. 12.9). Remove the lever pin from the brake shoe by pressing the manual shoe drive lever with a screwdriver and moving it. Then move the lever away from the shoe by moving it back.

- Using a Torx 30 socket wrench, remove the two brake drum mounting bolts.
- Remove the brake drum.
- Remove the hub cap using Rou. 943 and Emb 880 tools
- Loosen the hub mounting nut
- Remove the hub and brake drum assembly
Installation
- Use brake cleaner to remove dust from the brake drum and shoes.
- Install the brake drum
- Screw on and tighten the hub mounting nut to the required torque.
- Install the cap, replacing the grease if necessary.
- Press the brake pedal several times and adjust the position of the brake pads.
- Adjust the parking brake.
