Checking the engine oil level
The engine oil level should be checked approximately every 600 km. To do this, pull the dipstick outward and wipe it with a clean cloth. Then lower and pull again. The oil level should be between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick, provided that the car is on a flat horizontal surface. If the oil level is at or below the minimum mark on the dipstick, add oil.
The oil volume with the level between the minimum and maximum marks is 1.5 liters for models with a 4-cylinder engine and 2.0 liters for models with a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine.
Checking the brake fluid level
The brake fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment on the left side of the brake master cylinder. Since the tank is transparent, the liquid level can be controlled from the outside. If the liquid level is not between the minimum and maximum marks, it is necessary to remove the plug and add liquid.
Checking brake lights
The functioning of the brake lights can be controlled by another person or by yourself. In the first case, the driver presses the brake pedal, and the second person at this time looks to see if the brake lights light up. To carry out the control yourself, you need to reverse to the garage door and press the brake pedal. Stoplights will reflect red from the garage door. If the lamp does not light up, you need to replace the bulb; if both lights are not on, the brake light switch may be damaged or the wiring going to this switch is broken.
Checking the functioning of the lighting
Turn on all electric lights one by one (including horn and alarm) and check their functionality. It is better to check the lights and reversing lights at night in front of the garage door without leaving the car.
Tire pressure check
Tire pressure can be measured at a petrol station, plus a tire pressure gauge and a small air compressor are at your disposal (which can be connected to the cigarette lighter socket). If you do not know the standard pressure value, you can easily determine it using the table. Under normal load, all 4-cylinder models have pressures of 2.2 bar at the front and 1.8 bar at the rear, but as load increases, the rear tire pressure can be increased to 2.0 bar. For all-wheel drive models, a different value is considered normative. The pressure in the front wheels is 2.3 bar, in the rear wheels - 2.1 bar. The pressure may differ depending on the design of the tire, so you should always check if the tires installed on the car are serial. When measuring the pressure on warm tires, take into account that its value may exceed the norm by 0.2 -0.3 bar.
Checking the coolant level
When cool, the coolant level should be between the two marks on the expansion tank. They are marked as «Maxi» and «Mini». If necessary, wait until the coolant has cooled down and add antifreeze. If the engine is hot, unscrew the plug to the first stop and wait until the pressure drops. Then completely unscrew the plug.
Replaceable air filter element
The air filter element must be checked every 20,000 km (or at least once a year) for contamination and change every 40,000 km (every two years). In regions with dusty air, the intervals must be reduced.
