The catalog number of the generator is 0 120 416 020. The generator is driven by a multi-ribbed belt from the crankshaft pulley.
Removing
- place the car on a lift or raise the front of the car, place supports under the body;
- disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;
- remove the right front wheel and mudguard;
- remove the radiator grille;

- remove the upper cross member by unscrewing the two lower mounting bolts and place it on the engine (Figure 8.2);
- remove the protective casing of the fuel distribution rail;
- remove the right headlight;
- remove the accessory drive belt (see section «Operation and maintenance»);
- remove the power steering pump pulley;
- Remove the fuel supply line from the injection rail using tool Mot. 1311-06 and disconnect the injector connector (Figure 8.3);

- unscrew the bolts securing the power steering pump to the bracket;
- remove the bolt securing the power steering pipe to the multifunction bracket;
- remove the alternator mounting bolts by moving the power steering pump aside.
Installation
Installation of the generator is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Tension the alternator drive belt.
Renault recommends checking the generator after 15 minutes of engine warm-up at a voltage of 13.5 V at the contacts. The generator current, depending on the engine speed, is given in Table. 8.2.
