The car is equipped with a three-phase 100 A alternating current generator manufactured by Bosch.

The generator catalog number is 0 120 416 020. The generator is driven by a multi-groove belt from the crankshaft pulley.

Removal


  • place the car on a lift or lift the front of the car, place supports under the body;
  • disconnect the negative battery cable;
  • remove the right front wheel and mudguard;
  • remove the radiator grille;

  • remove the upper cross member by unscrewing the two lower mounting bolts and place it on the engine (Figure 8.2);
  • remove the protective cover of the fuel distribution rail;
  • remove the right headlight;
  • remove the accessory drive belt (see section "Operation and maintenance");
  • remove the power steering pump pulley;
  • remove the fuel supply pipe from the fuel rail using tool Mot. 1311-06 and disconnect the injector connector (Figure 8.3);

  • loosen the bolts securing the power steering pump to the bracket;
  • remove the bolt securing the power steering line to the multi-function bracket;
  • unscrew the generator mounting bolts, moving the power steering pump to the side.

Installation



The generator is installed in the reverse order of removal.

Tighten the alternator drive belt.

Renault recommends checking the generator after 15 minutes of engine warm-up with a voltage of 13.5 V at the contacts. The generator current strength depending on the engine crankshaft speed is given in Table 8.2.
