The car uses a Valeo D7E6 starter, which is a DC motor with a traction relay.
Removal:
- place the vehicle on a lift or raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands;
- disconnect the wires from the battery and remove it from the car;
- remove the right front wheel;
- disconnect the intake noise muffler;
- disconnect the steering rod joint from the steering knuckle;
- remove the spring pin securing the right wheel drive shaft to the gearbox output shaft (see subsection "Front wheel drive shafts");
- unscrew the upper bolt securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle, remembering the position of the bolt. Only loosen the lower bolt;
- move the steering knuckle to the side and separate the wheel drive shaft from the gearbox;
- remove the injection system ECU bracket (see subsection "Power supply system"), having previously disconnected the contact connectors of the ECU and the fuel supply switch sensor in the event of a collision;

- remove the catalytic converter screen bolts (Figure 8.4);
- remove the wiring harness from the oil level sensor and move the wiring harness to the side;

- disconnect the power wire from the starter by unscrewing the nut that secures it (Figure 8.5) and the contact connector of the traction relay;
- unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove it from the bottom of the engine compartment.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that the installation sleeve is present, which should be at point A. Install the heat shields in the correct position.
