Removing
The brushes can be removed without dismantling the generator.
1. Disconnect the wire terminal from the battery «masses» (-).
Attention! This removes the recorded information from some devices, and the security code from the radio, as well as all automatic settings on the radio. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, read the chapter «Battery - removal and installation».
2. Unscrew the two bolts 1 fastening the generator and remove the voltage regulator (see illustration).

3. Replace the carbon brushes if they are 5 mm or less in length (see illustration).

4. Check the condition of the contact rings of the generator armature, if necessary, carefully bore and polish them.
Installation
5. Insert the new voltage regulator into place along with the mounting cover and secure it.
6. Remove the mounting cover by pulling it up.
7. Put the protective cap on the regulator and fasten it with M4 and M5 bolts. The tightening torque of the M4 bolt is 2 Nm, the M5 bolt is 4 Nm.
8. Connect wire terminal «masses» (-) to the battery terminal.
9. Set the clock and program the radio to receive radio stations.
