Examination
1. Remove the starter and recheck it by connecting it to a separate charged battery. As a power wire, you can use a wire to accelerate the start of the engine from an auxiliary battery.
2. Connect the heavy-gauge starter wire to the positive battery post and the starter housing to the negative battery post.
3. Briefly bridge the terminal with the large cross-section fixed wire from the positive pole with an auxiliary wire (+) battery and a terminal with a thin wire going to the ignition switch. The starter gear should move forward (clicks will be heard), and the starter itself - start. If the starter gear does not come forward, then remove the traction relay from the starter and replace it with a new one.
If during this check the starter gear comes forward but the starter motor does not start, the starter motor should be taken to a workshop for overhaul.
Removing
4. Disconnect a starter wire from the traction relay.
5. Unscrew two bolts of fastening of the traction relay and remove the relay.
Installation
6. Seal joint F with a suitable sealant (see illustration).

7. Install the traction relay in the forked arm of the drive and secure with bolts.
8. Connect a wire to the traction relay.
9. Perform a starter motor test using the steps above.
10. Install the starter in place.
