Removal
To remove the pre-catalytic converter, remove the engine.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the heat shield (fig. 2.289).
Disconnect the wire connectors from the oxygen sensors.
Remove the upper mount bracket and upper brace.
Remove the catalytic converter support bracket from the gearbox.

Loosen the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger and remove the catalytic converter (fig. 2.290).
Remove the oxygen sensors from the workbench.
Caution: Replace the exhaust pipe and turbocharger flange gaskets.
Installation
Install oxygen sensors.
tighten the bolts securing the upper brace to the engine to the required torque (38 Nm).
Roll until touching in the order shown:
- upper mount bracket mounting bolts;
- catalytic converter mounting nuts on turbocharger;
- catalytic converter mounting bolt on the upper brace.
Tighten in the order shown to the specified torque:
- catalytic converter mounting bolt to upper brace (8.5 Nm);
- bolts for fastening the upper tab to the exhaust manifold (8.5 Nm);
- upper tab mounting bolts to pre-catalytic converter (8.5 Nm);
- nuts securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger (40 Nm);
- oxygen sensors (34 Nm);
- exhaust pipe flange mounting studs (8.5 Nm).

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
