Removing
Place the car on a two post lift.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove the air filter housing.
Turn away bolts (1) exhaust pipe flange.
Move aside the exhaust pipe.
Attach the exhaust pipe to the front left lower suspension arm.
Loosen the catalytic converter lower strut bolt (2).
Loosen the bolt and nut securing the lower brace to the gearbox (3).
Remove the bottom brace.
Remove:
- upper brace bolts (4),
- front brace.
Loosen the fastening nuts (5) catalytic converter to the turbocharger.
Remove:
- catalytic converter (6),
- gasket between catalytic converter and turbocharger,
- exhaust pipe flange.
Installation
Attention! To ensure sealing, mating surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil (don't touch them with your fingers).
Clean the mating surface with gray matting swabs:
- intermediate pipe,
- catalytic converter in case of its reuse,
- turbocharger.
Using a surface cleaner and a clean cloth, clean and degrease the following mating surfaces:
- intermediate pipe,
- catalytic converter in case of its reuse,
- turbocharger.
The sealing ring of the exhaust pipe flange must be replaced.
Parts that must be replaced: Gasket between compressor and catalytic converter.
Note:
- If the fastening pin comes out during this operation, lubricate it with a high-strength locking compound.
- Torque tighten the turbocharger outlet mounting studs (9 Nm).
Install:
- a new gasket between the catalytic converter and turbocharger,
- catalytic converter for turbocharger.
Turn until touching in this order:
- bolt and nut for fastening the upper strut to the engine,
- bolt and nut securing the lower strut to the gearbox,
- bolts for fastening the upper strut to the converter,
- bolts for fastening the lower brace to the converter,
- nuts securing the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.
Tighten in order to the correct torque:
- turbocharger catalytic converter mounting nuts (28 Nm),
- upper strut to engine bolts (44 Nm),
- bolt and nut securing the lower strut to the gearbox (21 Nm),
- upper strut bolts on the catalytic converter (26 Nm),
- lower strut bolt to catalytic converter (21 Nm).
Make sure that the converter and the turbocharger oil return pipe do not touch each other.
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Torque tighten the exhaust pipe flange mounting bolts (21 Nm).
Check:
- the presence and reliable fastening of all thermal screens of the exhaust pipeline,
- lack of contact with the bottom of the body.
Start the engine.
Check for leaks, repair if found.
