Note. On models with F3R engines, it is theoretically possible to remove the transmission separately from the engine. However, this is a very complex and time-consuming procedure. It is recommended to remove the power unit assembly and then separate the transmission from the engine. On models with a K7M engine, the latter method is the only possible one.
1. Remove the engine/transmission assembly.
2. With the assembly on the workbench, separate the transmission as follows:
- a) Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the block to the engine and carefully remove it. Follow that. to keep the torque converter engaged with the transmission input shaft.
- b) After removing the transmission, lock the torque converter in working position by attaching a bent steel rod to the crankcase.
In the event of a transmission failure, it is necessary to determine whether the damage is electrical, mechanical or hydraulic in nature, which requires special diagnostic equipment. Entrust this work to a Renault workshop.
Do not remove the transmission before the diagnosis is made, as most tests require the transmission to be in the running position.
