Note: On models with F3R engines, it is theoretically possible to remove the transmission separately from the engine. However, this is a very complex and time-consuming procedure. It is recommended to remove the power unit assembly and then separate the transmission from the engine. On models with K7M engines, the latter method is the only possible one.

1. Remove the engine/transmission assembly.

2. With the assembly on the workbench, separate the transmission as follows:
  • a) Remove the bolts and nuts securing the block to the engine and carefully remove it. Make sure that the torque converter remains engaged with the transmission input shaft.
  • b) After removing the gearbox, lock the torque converter in the operating position by attaching a bent steel rod to the housing.

In the event of a transmission failure, it is necessary to determine whether the damage is electrical, mechanical or hydraulic in nature, which requires special diagnostic equipment. Entrust this work to a Renault service station.

Do not remove the transmission until diagnostics have been performed, as most tests require the transmission to be in the running position.
