2. Note the correct position of the old oil seal. Using a small screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the cylinder head.
3. Wipe the bearing surface in the cylinder head.

4a. Apply a small amount of oil to the outer edge and sealing lip of the new oil seal. Insert the oil seal into the cylinder head.

4b. Hammer it into place using a metal tube or socket, the outside diameter of which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the seal seat in the cylinder head (refer to the illustrations). Make sure the seal is oriented correctly with the sealing lip facing inward.
5. Install the camshaft timing gear as described in Section Removal, inspection and installation of the drive belt toothed wheel and tensioner mechanism.
