Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
  • right front wheel,
  • air filter housing,
  • throttle body, intake manifold,
  • right pendulum support, auxiliary equipment drive belt,
  • timing belt.

Install the locking device (1) on the camshaft toothed pulleys.

Remove:
  • exhaust camshaft toothed pulley fastening nut (2),
  • exhaust camshaft toothed pulley fastening nut (3),
  • adaptation,
  • toothed pulley of the intake camshaft,
  • toothed pulley of the exhaust camshaft.

Note: Removal of the intake and exhaust camshaft seals is performed using a tool.


Be sure to remove the tip (4) of the device.

Unscrew the screws (5) and (6) of the device as much as possible.

Install the fixture's jaws onto the camshaft.

Press the device until the flanges (7) of the grips touch the camshaft oil seal.

Remove the clamps by turning the nut (8) clockwise using an open-end wrench.

Remove the camshaft oil seal by turning the bolt (9) clockwise.

Repeat the above operations with the other camshaft oil seal.

Installation



Parts that must be replaced:
  • Front camshaft oil seal
  • Exhaust camshaft toothed pulley fastening nuts
  • Exhaust camshaft toothed pulley fastening nut

Attention!
  • Do not scrape the mating surfaces of aluminum parts, as any damage to the mating surface may result in fuel leaks.
  • To ensure a seal, the mating surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil (don't touch them with your fingers).


Clean with surface cleaner:
  • the seat of the oil seal of each camshaft,
  • camshaft oil seal housings.

Note: Before installation, it is strictly forbidden to lubricate the seal with oil along the outer diameter.

Note: Be sure to hold the camshaft oil seal with its protective sleeve (10) when handling it, as this type of seal is very fragile. It is strictly forbidden to touch the seal (11) with your hands to prevent oil leakage after installing the seal on the engine.

Install the safety sleeve with a new oil seal (13) on the intake and exhaust camshafts, being careful not to touch the oil seal with your hands.

Tighten the stud (12) of the device onto the intake and exhaust camshafts.

Replace the cap (14) and flange nut (15) of the device.

Tighten the flange nut until the cap contacts the cylinder head.

Remove:
  • nut,
  • cap,
  • threaded rod (16).

Install:
  • toothed pulley of the exhaust camshaft with a new fastening nut,
  • toothed pulley of the exhaust camshaft with a new mounting nut.

Install the locking device on the camshaft sprockets.



Tighten to the specified torque:
  • intake camshaft pulley hub fastening nut (30 Nm + 84°±4°),
  • exhaust camshaft pulley hub fastening nut (30 Nm + 84°±4°).

Remove the retainer.

Install:
  • timing belt,
  • accessory drive belt,
  • right support of the pendulum suspension,
  • intake manifold,
  • throttle body,
  • air filter housing,
  • right front wheel.

Connect the battery.
