Removal


  • Place the car on a lift and raise the front wheels.
  • Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  • Using clamps Mot. 453-01, clamp the flexible pipes coming from the power steering fluid reservoir. Do not allow any fluid to leak out.
  • Disconnect the connector from the injection system control unit, unscrew the 2 bolts and remove the injection system control unit.
  • Raise the car.
  • Remove the right front wheel and the right protective fender liner.
  • Disconnect the oil supply hose and the pressure hose.
  • Loosen the drive belt tension. Using a 7 mm Allen key, loosen the central tension roller fixing bolt and use a 22 mm open-end wrench to turn the tension roller (Fig. 9.19).

  • Remove the power steering pump drive belt.
  • Remove 3 Torx 30 bolts and pulley from power steering pump.
  • Remove the 3 bolts securing the pump to the bracket.
  • Remove the pump.

Installation



The installation of the power steering pump is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following recommendations:
  • when installing a new pump, use the Dir. 1083 or Nauder tool to press the pump sleeve until dimension X = 40.6 mm is obtained (Fig. 9.21);
  • do not reinstall a previously removed accessory drive belt;
  • be sure to follow the tensioning procedure for the drive belt of the attachments;
  • bleed the power steering hydraulic system.
