All pistons are equipped with two compression rings and one oil scraper ring. The outer surface of the upper compression ring is chromed, and the cross-section of the lower compression ring has the shape of a trapezoid. The piston bottoms of the gasoline engine have an elevation in the middle, as shown by the segment "X" (see illustration). If the piston needs to be replaced, the height "X" of the new piston must match the height "X" of the old piston.
9.1 The amount of rise on the piston crown varies between petrol engines. The "X" value should always be measured before installing new pistons
