- In order for the coolant to be able to remove more heat, it is in a pressurized cooling system. This raises the boiling point of the liquid from 100°C to about 120°C. Increasing the boiling point increases the efficiency of the engine. The pressure in the Renault 19 cooling system for all engine modifications is 1.2 0±1 bar. Responsible for the correct operation of the cooling system:
- Expansion tank cap.
- A thermostat that directs coolant to the radiator when the temperature rises.
