The figure shows the radiator of a 1.4-liter engine. You see the cooling fins of the radiator, the space between which needs to be cleaned after the summer (from insects) and autumn (from foliage).
1 - fan of the engine cooling system; 2 - thermal switch of the fan of the engine cooling system; 3 - upper radiator hose; 4 - lower radiator hose.
Radiator cleaning
The radiator is very susceptible to getting between the cooling plates of small foreign bodies, such as, for example, the remains of insects. A large number of foreign bodies that have entered the radiator adversely affects its operation. Therefore, if necessary, clean the radiator with compressed air or a jet of water from the engine to the outside.
- Treat the dried remains of insects with a protein-dissolving agent.
- After dissolving the residue, flush the radiator from the engine to the outside. Do not clean the radiator with a hard brush or sharp objects, as this can damage the radiator fins.
- It is not necessary to use special cleaners to clean the inside of the radiator if the coolant contains anti-freeze and anti-corrosion additives.
- Once every 5 years, remove the hoses from the radiator and engine and flush the radiator with water under pressure.
