- The coolant pump on the C-type engine and the F-type engine is driven by a V-belt.
- The coolant pump is maintenance-free. However, it may leak or make crunching noises, which indicate a bearing failure.
Removal the coolant pump
1. Release excess pressure in the cooling system by unscrewing the expansion tank cap.
2. Remove the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant.
3. Engine type "C": disconnect all coolant hoses from the coolant pump.
4. Unscrew the clamp and generator mounting bolts and remove the V-belt.
5. Remove the generator mounting clamp.
6. Unscrew the bolts securing the coolant pump to the cylinder head.
7. Disconnect the coolant pump from the cylinder head, tap it with a wooden hammer if necessary.
8. Engine type "F": remove the three coolant pump pulley bolts.
9. Remove the V-belt, see. Generator.
10. Remove the V-belt pulley.
11. Remove the nine coolant pump bolts and push it away from the engine.
12. Type "C" engine and type "F" engine: before installing the coolant pump, which is carried out in the opposite order to removal, carefully clean the contact surfaces of the engine housing and the coolant pump.
13. Install a new gasket. Tighten the coolant pump bolts to 20 Nm.
14. Warm up the engine and make sure the cooling system is sealed.
