Elastomeric camshaft seals are used in two versions, the elastomer seal in the first version has a spring and a V-shaped working edge (pic. 2.192).

In the second version, the elastomeric seal has a flat working edge and a safety sleeve, which also serves to install the seal on the engine (pic. 2.193).
Note. Both modifications of the stuffing box can be installed on the same engine. The seals are not interchangeable. Be sure to replace the old oil seal with an oil seal of the same modification, except when replacing one or both camshafts.
Installing the intake camshaft seals of the first version

Install seals with tool (Mot. 1491) and old nuts (pic. 2.194).
Installing the exhaust camshaft seal
Attention! Be sure to hold the oil seal by the protective sleeve, as this type of oil seal is easily damaged. Never touch the elastomer seal after it has been pressed in to prevent oil leakage (pic. 2.195).

Screw in fixture pin (Mot. 1632) into the camshaft (pic. 2.196).

Install a protective sleeve with an oil seal on the camshaft (pic. 2.197).

Install cap and collar nut tool (Mot. 1632) (pic. 2.198).

Tighten the collar nut until the cap touches the cylinder head (pic. 2.199).
Remove the nut, cap, protective sleeve and stud.
Install the timing belt.
Install:
- accessory drive belt;
- new intake camshaft plugs with tool (Mot. 1487);
- new exhaust camshaft plugs with tool (Mot. 1488).
The rest of the components are installed in the reverse order of removal.
Fill the engine cooling system with liquid.
Connect the battery.
Remove air from the cooling system.
