2a. Lubricate the valve stem seals, then install them into the cylinder head.
2b. By pushing them in with a suitable head or special tool (refer to the illustrations), make sure the cap is fully seated on the valve guide.
3. Insert the valves into their original places. If new valves are installed, insert them into the places where they were ground. Do not damage the valve stem seals when installing the valves (refer to the accompanying illustration).
4. Place the spring support on the guide, then the spring and cover.

5. Compress the valve spring and insert the keepers into the groove in the stem. Release the puller, then repeat the procedure with the remaining valves. Apply a little grease to hold the keepers in the valve groove (refer to the accompanying illustration).
6. Once all the valves are installed, place the cylinder head on a work bench and use a mallet to tap the end of each valve stem to seat the components.
7. Now you can install the previously removed components listed in paragraphs 1 or 2 of Section Disassembling the cylinder head.
