1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the steering column cover, see «Removal and installation of the switch (castle) ignition».
3. Turn out two screws of fastening of a steering column switch...
4.... and remove it from the connector socket.
5. Disconnect from the switch block of a plait of wires.
6. Remove the second steering column switch in the same way.
7. Establish switches and all details in an order, the return to removal.
Withdrawal steering column switches assy with the connector, proceed in the following order.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see «Removal and installation of a steering wheel»).
3. Remove the steering column cover, see «Removal and installation of the switch (castle) ignition».
4. Disconnect the wiring harness pads from the steering column switches.
5. Turn out a bolt of a collar of fastening of a connector...
6.... and push it down to loosen the clamp.
7. Remove the connector assembly with the steering column switches.
8. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
The serviceability of the steering column switches is determined by checking the correct closure of the contacts at various positions of the levers. Remove the switches to test and connect a 12V test light (with current source) or autotester with function «dialing» circuits to the corresponding conclusions specified in tab. 10.3 and 10.4. Move the switch lever to the position corresponding to the contacts being tested - the lamp should light up. Otherwise, the switch is defective.
