Operating principle
The steering is unlocked. when the Renault card is inserted into the reader in the position «ignition» and recognized by the CECB. The steering is blocked. when the Renault hag is completely removed from the reader, the engine is stopped and the speed is zero.
Note. If the UCH receives a *hit- signal from the airbag computer, the steering column lock remains unlocked.
Note. If the steering column lock is faulty, as well as when the lock connector is disconnected, the engine cannot be started.
If the lock is not unlocked when the Renault card is inserted into the reader, the red engine immobilizer warning light stays on for three seconds, but «+» after the ignition switch is not supplied.
If the lock is released while driving, the warning lamp will light up «STOP» and a red signal lamp of the engine immobilizer system (steering wheel does not lock).
If the internal switch is faulty, the fault indicator lamp lights up.
Repair Precautions
To prevent the steering wheel from locking when the battery is disconnected, you must:
- insert the Renault card into the reader in position «ignition» («+» after the ignition switch), and then pull it out to the first fixed position («+» electricity consumers). The steering column is not locked as long as the card is in the 8th reader in the first fixed position. Disconnect the battery, the steering column remains unlocked while the battery is disconnected. and the Renault card is in the reader;
- lock the airbag computer using the scan tool.
Removing the steering column lock
Attention! The steering column lock is fixed with one bolt with a left-hand thread. The lock cannot be removed without first unlocking.
Installation
Tighten the bolt to 8 Nm.
