- place the car on a lift;
- disconnect the negative battery cable;
- set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position and lock it;
- remove the front wheels;
- using a universal puller, press out the ball joint pins of the steering rods from the steering knuckles, having first unscrewed the pin nuts;

- disconnect the steering wheel angle sensor connector (Fig. 6.1);

- bend back the cover under the vehicle that covers the steering shaft universal joint assembly and unscrew the eccentric bolt of the universal joint cross clamp (Fig. 6.2);
- mark the relative positions of the clamp and shaft in an accessible way;
- unscrew the steering gear mounting bolts on the subframe;
- remove the steering gear.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, while checking whether the position of the steering wheel has changed; tighten all bolts and nuts to the required torques; connect the steering angle sensor connector. Check and, if necessary, adjust the front wheel alignment.
