The Renault card reader contains two switches to ensure the operation of the vehicle:
- a switch activated when the card is inserted in the middle position. at which the supply voltage is supplied to the auxiliary equipment!» *» electricity consumers),
- switch activated when the card is inserted all the way into the reader («+» after the ignition switch).
Note. The Renault card is blocked in the reader after receiving a signal from the UCH «engine running» from the injection computer. It is released when the engine is stopped.
On models with automatic transmission, it is possible to cancel the blocking of the Renault card through a configuration setting.
The Renault card reader is used:
- to receive radio signals for locking and unlocking opening elements;
- as a transponder antenna for the immobilizer function and Renault card recognition.
Reader illumination
When the doors are unlocked, the backlight of the reader lights up for approximately 30 seconds.
If the reader lights up when a Renault card is inserted, this means that the card code matches the code stored in the UCH.
If the reader starts flashing rapidly (at the same frequency as the engine immobilizer warning light) after the Renault card is inserted into the reader. this means that the code is not recognized by the UCH.
The reader also lights up when the engine is stopped.
If the door opens (engine stopped) when the Renault card is not removed from the reader, the backlight of the reader starts flashing, warning about the forgotten card.
Note. If the backlight is defective, the reader must be replaced.
The reader is non-coded.
