Renault Megane
The family of these size class C cars took 2nd place in European sales in 2000 with sales volume of 620 thousand units.
The Megane model range changed only slightly in 1999. Two new engines appeared - a 1.8-liter 16-valve "four" with a capacity of 116 hp and a 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel with a Common Rail fuel injection system with 102 hp.
Now the Megane family includes five models with different bodies and power units with engines in seven variants with a capacity from 75 to 140 hp. Two engines (1.6-liter petrol and 98-horsepower diesel) are equipped with adaptive hydromechanical 4-speed "automatic" of the Proactive type. Since 2001, the Megane braking systems have been equipped with the AFU emergency braking assistance system.
Renault Scenic
The Scenic High Capacity Multipurpose Vehicle (HCV) is characterized by a 5-seat convertible passenger compartment (there are about 10 options for using the interior space).
Since March 2001, the Scenic family has "reached" a new level of equipment, typical for higher-class models. For example, 6 airbags have appeared (two front and 4 side for front and rear passengers), high performance braking system (with ABS, EBD and AFU), tire pressure monitoring device, ESP dynamic stabilization system, etc. The new 1.9-liter DCi diesel engine with 80 hp has replaced the swirl-chamber engine of the same displacement with 64 hp.
