Removal
Set the wheels to the straight ahead position.
Lock the airbag control unit.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove:
- driver's front airbag,
- steering wheel,
- steering column switch assembly,
- instrument panel,
- audio system,
- instrument panel.
Loosen the steering shaft universal joint fork terminal connection bolt (1).
Remove:
- steering column mounting bolts (2),
- steering column.
Remove the ignition switch.
Installation
Parts that must be replaced:
- Steering shaft cardan joint fork terminal bolt
- Steering shaft cardan joint terminal nut
- Steering wheel mounting bolt
Install the ignition switch.
Install the new steering shaft universal joint nut onto the steering column.
Secure the terminal connection nut into the socket (hole on the steering shaft cardan joint fork).
Install:
- steering column,
- steering shaft cardan joint fork terminal bolt,
- steering column mounting bolts.
Tighten to the specified torque:
- steering shaft universal joint fork terminal connection bolt (21 Nm),
- steering column mounting nuts (21 Nm).
Install:
- instrument panel, audio system, instrument cluster, steering column switch assembly,
- steering wheel, driver's front airbag.

Connect the battery.
Unlock the airbag control unit.
