Note: Removal of the oil pump can only be carried out on the engine removed from the vehicle, as it requires preliminary removal of the timing cover.
Removal
- Remove the engine and gearbox from the vehicle.
- Drain the engine oil from the engine.
- Remove all attachments from the engine.
- Remove the cylinder head covers. Use the Renault Mot 582 tool to lock the flywheel from turning
- Remove the crankshaft pulley with the key facing up
- Remove the right engine mount bracket panel.
- Remove the thermostat housing.
- Remove the valve timing cover
- Before removing the oil pump drive chain, measure the deflection of the lower part of the chain, which should not exceed 7 mm.
- Remove the sprocket and chain from the crankshaft and the key from the crankshaft.
- Remove the oil pump cover, but do not use the pressure relief valve as a lever to pry the stuck cover off.
- Remove the driven sprocket.
- Remove the timing cover seal
Installation
- Install the drive gear onto the shaft, then generously lubricate the gears with oil
- Install the oil pump cover and secure with bolts, while turning the oil pump shaft to ensure that it rotates freely.
- Remove the oil filter and pour oil into the opened hole until the channel and oil pump are filled.
- At the same time, install the sprocket with the key on the crankshaft, the chain and the sprocket on the oil pump shaft.
- Using bolts with threads coated with locking agent, secure the sprocket to the pump shaft.
- Install the timing cover with sealant applied to the mating surface and secure it with 4 bolts, the threads of which are coated with Loctite Frenetanche. Do not forget to install the bracket for routing the wiring harness.
- Using the Renault Mot 658 tool, install the front crankshaft oil seal.
- Install the accessory drive belt pulley onto the crankshaft and secure it with a nut whose threads are coated with a locking agent.
- Remove the device that locks the crankshaft from turning.
- Install the thermostat housing and right engine mount bracket panel.
- Install the belts, adjust their tension, then install the cylinder head covers and attachments.
- Install the engine in the vehicle and fill it with operating fluids.
