Draining the coolant

  • Apart from replacing the coolant at the prescribed intervals, maintenance is limited to checking the coolant level in the expansion tank.
  • Remove the cap from the expansion tank.
  • Place a suitable container under the engine.

  • To drain the coolant from both sides of the cylinder block, unscrew the threaded plugs.
  • Disconnect the hose from the lower radiator tank and drain the coolant.

Filling with coolant

  • Screw the drain plugs with new gaskets into the cylinder block.
  • Reconnect the radiator hose and secure with a clamp.
  • Remove three screws to bleed air from the cooling system.
  • Fill the expansion tank with coolant until coolant without air bubbles comes out of the air bleed screws.
  • Tighten the air bleed screws and close the expansion tank cap.
  • Make sure the coolant level is halfway up the expansion tank.
  • Start the engine and warm it up for 15 minutes at fast idle until the radiator fan comes on.
  • Check the coolant level, which should be at the "Maxi" mark.
