The figure shows the components of the automatic clutch control. Pressing the clutch pedal with your foot (1) dog (2) clings to the always held on the cable by a spring (5) serrated segment (4), as a result of which the clutch cable is attracted by the tip (3). Numeric «6» the safety clamp of the pedal axis is marked.
- This gap must be sufficient so that the clutch release bearing is not under load, which will lead to its rapid wear. The stronger the clutch release bearing is loaded with the force of the disc spring of the pressure plate, the less the friction force of the driven disc. This will cause the clutch to slip.
- If the clearance is too large, the clutch stroke will be reduced. The clutch does not fully disengage when the pedal is depressed.
The clutch is designed in such a way that the gap decreases with significant wear of the clutch linings. With a worn and thinner drive plate, the spring-loaded pressure plate moves closer to the flywheel surface. The pressure plate is approaching the clutch release bearing.
