Components of the clutch clearance adjustment mechanism
1 - pedal holder; 2 - doggy; 3 - toothed segment with fastening of the tip of the clutch drive cable; 4 - spring; 5 - gear segment lever; 6 - clutch pedal; 7 - clutch cable.
The main function of the automatic clutch control is to tighten the clutch cable as clutch wear increases by automatically shortening the cable:
- The toothed segment fixed at the clutch pedal pivot point, together with the ratchet, keep the clutch cable in tension by means of a spring on the clutch pedal lever.
- As the clutch gradually wears out, the clutch pedal ratchet engages with the next tooth of the gear segment and thus maintains the cable always at the same tension.
