- wrench for unscrewing the drain plug;
- container for collecting used oil for 5 l;
- new oil filter;
- engine oil of the proper brand;
- tool for unscrewing oil filters;
- clean rag.
Change the oil in the following order:
- put the car in the workplace and stop the engine;
- remove the protective tray from the bottom of the engine compartment;
- place a container for the drained oil under the drain plug at the bottom of the engine;
- remove the plug from the engine oil filler neck;
Figure 2.28. Engine oil pan drain plug
- carefully open the drain plug (Figure 2.28), pressing it against the crankcase, and remove it sharply so that the oil does not get on your hands; wait until the oil is completely drained;
- wipe the drain plug dry, inspect its threads and the condition of the sealing washer. Replace washer if necessary;
- wipe the surface around the drain hole and install the plug with the washer, tightening it to the specified torque;
- check the cleanliness of the drained oil - the condition of the oil can be used to assess the condition of the engine and its wear.
Figure 2.29. Removing the oil filter
Replace the oil filter in the following order:
- use the tool to unscrew the filter (Figure 2.29), substituting a container for draining the oil under it;
- wipe the oil and dirt from the sealing surface under the filter on the cylinder block with a clean rag and manually wrap the new filter, having previously lubricated its rubber gasket with engine oil;
- tighten the filter by hand, without using any tools;
- remove the container with drained oil from under the car;
- install the protective pallet at the bottom of the engine compartment.
Fill the lubrication system in the following order:
- fill in new oil through the filler neck in small portions, constantly checking its level in the engine crankcase with a dipstick, up to the mark «MAX»;
- close the filler cap and start the engine at idle for 5–7 s until the oil pressure warning lamp in the instrument cluster goes out;
- stop the engine and after 5 minutes measure the oil level with a dipstick;
- add oil to the mark «MAX»;
- make a test drive and check for oil leaks in the area of the oil filter and the drain plug of the engine crankcase pan, carefully tighten the connections if necessary;
- keep the tag indicating the brand of oil and its viscosity, which will help when adding oil during operation.
Always use oils of the same type and brand. It is allowed to use oil of the same type, but of different viscosity during the transitional periods of the season.
