When the engine is running, the coolant heats up to a temperature of about 100°C, so you should be very careful when working on the cooling system.
To determine the level of coolant, marks are applied to the transparent wall of the expansion tank «MIN» and «MAX».
The expansion tank is located in the engine compartment and is connected to the radiator with a hose. With a cold engine, the fluid level should be above the mark «MIN». As the engine warms up, the fluid level rises without exceeding the mark «MAX».
If it is necessary to add liquid, wait for the engine to cool down to a temperature of 30–40°C, then carefully unscrew the cap of the expansion tank, relieving possible pressure in the cooling system.
Add liquid to the required level, then tightly wrap the reservoir cap.
With a systematic drop in the liquid level, it is necessary to find a leak in the cooling system. To do this, check the external inspection of the engine, radiator, hoses and their connections, the screw for bleeding the system and the tightness of the plug of the expansion tank.
If a leak is found, fix it as soon as possible.
Do not add water to the cooling system, as this lowers the boiling point and raises the freezing point of the liquid.
