Maintenance periods (Renault Symbol 2)

The list of car maintenance works is designed mainly for their implementation by the owner independently, without resorting to the services of car service enterprises. The frequency of maintenance is determined based on the conditions of normal, non-extreme operation of the car.

When operating a vehicle in urban traffic conditions, when it is stuck in traffic jams for a long time, moves in low gears, the engine idles for a long time or during frequent short trips with an unheated engine, the mileage between services should be reduced. Operating a vehicle with a trailer or driving in dusty areas also requires more frequent maintenance of units and assemblies. If the annual mileage of the vehicle is less than 10,000 km, then it is necessary to change the engine oil annually due to its natural aging, independent of the load and mileage.

Carrying out some types of maintenance work more frequently only improves the technical condition of the car. The following types of inspections and maintenance are established for the car.

Every 400 km or weekly

Check:

• engine oil level;
• brake fluid level;
• coolant level;
• windshield washer fluid level;
• tire condition and pressure;
• condition of windshield wipers.

Every 10,000 km or once a year

Change the engine oil and oil filter. Perform the work depending on which comes first.

Every 30,000 km

Please do the following:

• check the power steering fluid level;
• check the condition of the front brake pads and discs;
• check and adjust the parking brake;
• check the clutch operation;
• check the condition of the auxiliary drive belts;
• replace the cabin air filter;
• check the condition of the seat belts;
• check the functioning of electrical equipment;
• check the condition of the exhaust system;
• check the condition of the suspension and steering components;
• check the condition of the paintwork and anti-corrosion coating of the body;
• check the tightness of the wheel mounting bolts;
• check the tightness of the connections and the condition of the pipes and hoses;
• check the condition of the front wheel drive shaft protective covers.

Every 60,000 km

Perform the tasks listed above, as well as the following:

• check and replace spark plugs;
• replace the engine air filter element;
• replace fuel filter;
• check the condition of the rear brake pads and drums;
• check the front wheel alignment angles;
• check the functionality of the air conditioning system;
• replace the timing belt;
• check the oil level in the manual transmission;
• check the operation of the vehicle units under road conditions.

Every 120,000 km or every four years

Carry out the work depending on which comes first.

Perform the tasks listed above, as well as the following:

• replace the working fluid in the brake system;
• replace the fluid in the engine cooling system.
