Checking the tightness of wheel mounting bolts
Remove the wheel trims and loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Then use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Checking the tightness of connections and the condition of pipelines and hoses
Increased temperatures in the engine compartment have a negative effect on the condition of rubber and polymer hoses and lead to their intensive aging. That is why it is very important to regularly check the hoses for cracks, loose clamps, hardening of the material and signs of leaks.
Checking vacuum hoses
Vacuum hoses are used in exhaust gas toxicity reduction systems. Different systems use hoses of different cross-sections, wall thicknesses, heat resistance and compression resistance. When replacing hoses, install only their analogues.
When removing more than one hose, label the fittings and hoses to ensure proper system assembly when reinstalling them.
Check the vacuum hoses by listening with a stethoscope (without membrane) the surfaces of the hoses and the places where they are connected to the systems for the presence of a characteristic hissing sound of air being sucked in.
Attention! Start checking the fuel system by releasing the pressure in it.
Warning! Checking hoses and pipelines associated with fuel leaks requires increased fire safety measures. If fuel gets on your skin, wash it off immediately with plenty of soapy water.
Checking fuel hoses
Check the fuel hoses for signs of wear and tear, paying particular attention to the bends and the areas in front of the fuel filter fittings.
Check the condition of the band clamps on the fuel system element fittings and hoses.
When replacing components of the power supply system, replace the band clamps with screw-type clamps.
Inspection of metal pipelines
Check the pipelines in the following order:
- check the tubes carefully for dents, twists and cracks;
- when replacing, use only seamless, steel tubes. Copper and aluminum tubes are not strong enough to withstand vibrations caused by engine operation;
- check the brake system pipes where they connect to the master cylinder and the ABS hydraulic unit for cracks or loose fittings;
- any sign of brake fluid leakage requires immediate and thorough inspection of the entire brake system.
Checking the rubber hoses of the cooling and heating system
Carefully inspect the hoses that go to the radiator. Cracks in the hoses become more visible if you squeeze the hose. Hose defects are often found at the clamp installation site. A characteristic white or brown crystalline coating is observed at the sites of coolant leaks.
Attention! Air conditioning hoses can only be disconnected by a specialized company.
