Checking the protective covers of the front wheel drive shafts (30,000 km) (Renault Symbol 2)

Protective shaft covers play an important role in ensuring the reliability of the drive, as they protect the constant velocity joints (CV joints) from dirt, water, dust and other objects that cause damage.

Check the protective covers in the following order:

place the vehicle on a ramp or inspection ditch and apply the parking brake;
inspect the condition of the protective covers from below. Check the cleanliness of their surface. The presence of oil on the surface can lead to premature aging of the rubber and failure of the covers;
if the cover is pressed inward due to the presence of a vacuum in it, replace it immediately;
check the fastening of the clamps;
check the condition of the cover for cracks, tears and swelling. Replace such a cover immediately.

Wash protective covers periodically with plenty of soap and water.
